Fortnightly pay
Most Australian employers pay fortnightly: 26 pays a year. Your payslip uses the ATO’s withholding schedules, so each pay can differ by a few dollars from this estimate; your tax return settles the difference.
Superannuation in brief
Employers must pay 12% of your ordinary earnings into your super fund from 1 July 2025. It is not taken out of your take-home pay unless your contract quotes a package that includes it. Extra salary-sacrificed super lowers your taxable income, but is taxed at 15% inside the fund.
